Debbie Keaton, Ministry Associate

Debbie serves in our association office as full-time associate. Debbie has a degree from Wallace State Community College in Business Management.
 
She has been an active member of First Baptist Church of Fairview for more than 28 years, where she has served as Sunday School Teacher, Discipleship Training Teacher, Mission Friends Teacher, Discipleship Training Director, and WMU Director for 15 years. Currently, she serves as VBS Kitchen Coordinator, Community Thanksgiving Meal Coordinator, and Christmas Backpacks Ministry Coordinator at her church. In addition to her activities at her home church, Debbie has been active in the ECBA WMU, having served as ECBA WMU Director for many years, and continues to serve on the ECBA WMU team. She and her family have also served on several ECBA Construction Mission Trips.
 
Debbie has been married to her husband Keith for over 31 years. They have two sons. Justin graduated from Athen’s State University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 2020. He works as a teacher of special needs students.  Kyle graduated from Auburn University’s Architecture & Design Building Science Program in May 2016. He married Brooke Hamm Keaton in August 2016.  In July of 2019, Debbie’s first grandchild was born, Brylynn Grace Keaton. 
 
 

Sonya Burtis, Clerk

Sonya serves as our Associational Clerk. She is a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. She also serves as the church secretary at Center Grove and serves in the youth ministry. Sonya is married to Jerry Burtis and they have two sons, Preston and Jacob.
 
 

 John Garrison, Moderator

John has served as Pastor at Lystra Baptist Church since 2017.  He married Amelia Olson in 1970.  They have three children. Katrina, deceased in 2003, she had a daughter and son; Scott, married to Laura, they have two girls and are living in Indiana;
Tony, married to Jenny, they have a daughter and son and are living in Trussville.
John is a 1967 Graduate of Fairview High and 1975 Graduate of Samford University.  He graduated with MDiv from southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985 and graduated with DMin from Covington theological seminary in 1998. He has served churches in Alabama, Texas, Indiana, and Florida.  John was appointed as an IMB missionary and served in Zambia from 1985 to 1995.
He was appointed as a NAMB missionary seconded to the State Convention of Baptists in Indiana and served from 2000 through 2005.
